Advice and brokerage
Not sure what the right direction is for your wood products, your woodland, or your future trees? Not sure where to get what you need?
There are very few businesses that have the breadth of knowledge from sapling to building that we can provide. Not quite sat in “commercial” forestry or within” environmental” forestry either, we don’t build, we aren’t developers and we aren’t the civil service. This enables us to give fully independent advice. Most importantly though, we do not sit on the fence, we tell it as we see it, as our research sees it, and support you in making informed decisions.
Much of our advice work revolves around the future of landscapes. It may be the built landscape and the opportunities for using more timber in better ways or in more strategic urban forestry. It could be the agricultural landscape and decisions around agroforestry, or it could be the forest landscape and potential silvicultural systems.
Land use, architecture and landscape is evolving and increasingly more complex as we strive for resilience and sustainability. Come navigate that complexity with us and become leaders in sustainable land use and materials.
Let us be your search engine
Because foresters have spent the last thousand years in a forest and because globalisation has led to product standardisation it is often very difficult to find what you need. Yet increasingly people want advice or material from outside the conservative standard.
Because we spend so much time on the edge of traditional acceptability, we have the contacts to find what you are searching for. One of our favourite job types is “find the ridiculous timber for the maverick client”!
Fresh insights to new problems
Land use, architecture and landscape is evolving and becoming more complex as we strive for resilience and sustainability.
Decisions on materials, on land purchases, on the “right” way to get involved in tree systems are so commonly fraught with opinion.
We help people with no previous experience in this world navigate that complexity and to become leaders in sustainable land use and materials.
Fresh insights to old problems
You may just need a friendly voice to tell you what you are doing isn’t crazy, or perhaps that it is, but it’s brilliant! You might want advice about how to break free of the constraints of traditional approaches.
We work with land-use and the built-environment communities alike to explore the evolution of better more sustainable ways of working.
Anything from advice on timber sourcing, to the introduction of trees into agricultural systems, and many things in between, we can help you plan for change and a more considered circular way of working.
